253 -- Bringing to Fruition
January 11 (1/11). -- 2 Thessalonians 1:11 -- Saturday in Godsfield
11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.
I don't talk like that, but I think I think like that.
Having never gotten the hang of good church prayer talk, although I read a lot of them in worship and other occasions, I certainly get behind any prayer talk of God's power to bring to fruition every desire for goodness and deed prompted by faith.
That's what I want, for me, for you.
Only God's power makes "fruition."
Only goodness is the desire of the faithful one, which by faith prompts deeds that bless God.
This is not taken lightly, this fruition -- it is not about serving on the right committee, task force or worship team; it is about weathering the attacks of the enemy and emerging victorious because of God's power, protecting and driving us by the faith God gives and we put forth.
It is about emerging from the smoke and flames (and for many, that is literally and figurative) as victorious in knowing where our trust is, and power originates.
It is our desire for goodness, our faithful promptings of deeds, which God instills in us and then empowers us to be worthy of that to which we a called.
Called to trust, called to love, called to bless, called to do.
And why? The 12th verse completes the thought: So that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now, does God love the Buckeyes more than the Longhorns, or the Ducks, or the Volunteers? Wrong question. Did God see a strip fumble to seal the deal when He put a quarterback and defensive lineman together as roommates at Ohio State, in the recent but distant past, knowing it would be forever remembered by people who remember such things? (Are you confused? Look into it.)
Yes God saw it; so whose calling, what desire and what faithful deeds let to that moment?
God is not about football victories, but about faithful procedures. I am seeing a lot of those among this team a capable men and faithful children of God.
Pray for God to bless and the Enemy to be blocked in this time of great exposure, attention, accomplishment and effort.
Love ya,
Paul
