(For Better or Verse: Each day in 2025 I will begin this Godsfield e-mail with a Bible verse that corresponds with the month (chapter 1-12) and day (verse 1-31) it is sent. This month features a lot of sixth chapters! Those with eyes and ears, let them see and hear.)
John Allen and friends have put together the "Resurrection Breakfast" for more than 35 years in this area, the day before Easter; the event took a new shape and time last year but continues with the mission of bringing a speaker that can draw crowds and bring the Lord to front of the house.
It was a blessing that a "guided footstep" encounter with John (and Dr. Don Brown, who has proceeded us to heaven) meeting Treveyon Henderson, then Buckeye's star running back, led to yesterday's event at Storyside.
Treveyon Henderson did that, with a testimony of the saving grace in his life, leading dozens to come forward and commit their lives to Christ.
There was a whole lot of guiding going on -- beyond the parking attendants directing traffic and hosts pointing to the auditorium -- there was the Holy Spirit, speaking, guiding, waking souls, as he does for anyone who is available. And dozens responded by coming forward to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
As people will this evening at the Jericho Wall, when addiction is confronted by recovery by the Grace of God.
As longtime and recent friends will hear the venerable and faithful Spencers sing at Open Bible Church tonight.
As parents bring their child to Oakland this morning for the sacrament of holy baptism.
Today's verse -- Proverbs 6:22 -- is about parents who do the Lord's work toward their children. When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you.
Parents can feel overwhelmed by the work of raising a child, a family; in faith, they can know their mission field is at home, and every word and gesture that points to the Lord will guide, watch over and speak to the child through the rest of their lives.
Even when they are not listening!
Whenever the breakthrough, the guidance right now is all that matters. Because right now is all we've got.
Love ya,
Paul
